Old World Painting Secrets

ArtTRUST - Which of your art forms do you like best, people portraits or cats?
Lisa  - I lean toward landscapes.  I actually escape into the scenes, finding serenity, while applying my imagination.  I will always enjoy portraiture as well.  I really see every face as unique and interesting.

ArtTRUST - From your bio, you seem to prefer art festivals, is that your marketing focus?
Lisa - I have done very well at art festivals, selling paintings and gaining positive media coverage. In addition, I entered juried competitions and won awards such as MORAN", a watercolor of a young girl.

ArtTRUST - You paint landscapes well, what is your favorite medium for those?
Lisa - I primarily use acrylic , working through ideas quickly to see results.  I also love oils and will use them while outside on location.  Acrylics are easier to handle indoors, and I do think about it being less toxic.  I like to change my compositions at times, easily altering them by applying layer over layer.

ArtTRUST -  Do you teach school as well as paint?
Lisa  -  On a volunteer basis to help under-funded art programs, I teach art and techniques at high schools and community colleges. I find demonstrations and teaching to be very rewarding.

ArtTRUST If you could only paint one more painting,
                           what would it be?
Lisa  -  It might be seascapes,  I have lived away from the west coast for almost ten years.  I grew up by the Pacific Ocean and miss it.

ArtTRUST - When did you realize art was your passion?
Lisa  -  As a child, my father gave me an easel and pastel pencils.

ArtTRUST - Your favorite medium?Lisa  -  I find all of them interesting, I use the medium that works best for me in each painting.

ArtTRUST - Your favorite artist?
Lisa  -  Almost all the well-known masters of the Renaissance period, primarily the Dutch and European artists.
Rembrandt made powerful and masterly use of light, his dramatic aspects, the depth, his capturing human expression, and the way he illuminated his subjects.
In addition, I am amazed by the detail and the realism in the portrait works of John Singer Sargeant.

ArtTRUST - Your favorite creation?
Lisa  -  My portrait called "MORAN" as  seen on the first page of my Website.
It is a watercolor portrait that has won many awards.   It is one of my best paintings and probably my favorite, so far.
