An idea other cities could use !
In the year 2000, at the Shreveport, Louisiana Regional Airport, artists were showcased for the traveling public. Opened on June 15, 2000, artwork by over 100 artists were displayed for six months in the main concourse. Conceived in 1989 by Louis Kalmback, a resident artist and advertising executive, the entry fee was a donated artwork on a 8" x 8" ceramic tile to be auctioned to benefit the Philadelphia Center, the region's HIV/AIDS resource center. Louis and artist, Laura Noland-Harter have conspired since that time to bring the rich artistic talents of the region to the airport walls. The artist tile auctions were supplemented with tiles done by celebrities such as Whoopie Goldberg and Red Skeleton.
